Andrew Wells
Andrew Wells was born in Plymouth and educated in Truro and St. Austell.
He received his musical training at the London College of Music, where he studied organ with Gordon Phillips and violin with Peter Turton. After graduating with distinction, he studied piano accompaniment with Christine Croshaw and harpsichord with Valda Aveling at Trinity College London.
His experience includes working with the BBC Singers and Symphony Chorus and accompanying choral workshops with John Rutter and Bob Chilcott. As both organist and harpsichordist, he has performed throughout the UK and abroad.
Andrew is also a composer, writing in diverse styles. His Chamber Symphony was received with acclaim in 2009, as were his Te Deum and Evening Service in B Minor, which were commissioned by the Hogarth Singers. He is known as an editor and has recently discovered and edited some little-known English piano music from the early nineteenth-century, from Pinto to Potter!
Andrew was formerly Organist at St Peter’s Hammersmith, where he established the St Peter’s Festival. As an accompanist, he now plays for several choral societies. He is currently Director of Music at St. George’s, Campden Hill. He has been accompanist and concert performer for the Hogarth Singers for many years.
