Rupert Gill

Rupert Gill began his musical training as a Quirister in the choral foundation of Winchester College under Dr Chris Tolley. He subsequently studied at the Royal Academy of Music under Professors Patrick Russill and Paul Brough and was awarded an MA in Choral Conducting and the Alan Kirby Prize for choral conducting.

Rupert’s conducting engagements have included performances at the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, St James’s Church Piccadilly, Temple Church and Christ Church Spitalfields. He has conducted the Royal Academy of Music chamber choir at Neresheim Abbey, Germany, as well as the BBC Singers in workshops led by David Hill.

He has worked with prominent musicians, including James O’Donnell, Organist and Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey; Ben Parry, Director of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain; and Jeremy Summerly, Director of Music St Peter’s College, Oxford.

Recent performances have included lunchtime concerts at three of London’s City Churches - St Giles Cripplegate, St Stephen Walbrook and St Mary Le Bow - as well as participation in the Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival.

Rupert holds the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music and is a winner of the London Lawyers’ Chorus bursary award. He is currently Musical Director of Didcot Choral Society and was appointed Musical Director of the Hogarth Singers in 2015.
