Autumn Concert 2021

After nearly two years without a concert we had such a pleasure singing Brahms Song of Destiny and Mozart Requiem accompanied by organ and string quartet.

We were superbly accompanied by Andrew Wells on the organ and the Quartet Toldrà (Emily Harrison 1st Violinist, Joana Ribeiro 2nd Violinist, Pol Altimira i Saura Violinist and Annie Hodgson Cellist).

Rupert Gill conducted, and we were joined by four excellent soloists

Ceferina Penny - Soprano,
Olivia Carstairs - Mezzo Soprano,
Daniel Gray-Bell - Tenor
Ross Fettes - Bass.

Spring Concert 2019

Although most of the words were in Latin, the music was unmistakeably French, ranging from a foot-tapping Sortie for organ by Lefébure-Wély, played Andrew Wells, to the Requiem by Saint-Saëns. Rupert Gill conducted, and we were joined by four marvellous soloists.

Christmas Concert 2018

We were very pleased with our performance of Bach's Christmas Oratorio parts 1 - 3 on Saturday 15 December 2018. We also performed Mater Ora Filium by Arnold Bax which was a challenging but lovely piece. We were delighted with our orchestra and soloists who were very talented.

Gloriana - a concert of music old and new

Considering the heat and the fact that England had beaten Sweden at football during the afternoon, we were delighted to see those who joined us on July 7th at 7.30pm in St, Michael and All Angels Church for a concert of twentieth century music sung by the choir and performances of Gabrielli and Bach by South West Brass. A real feast of old and new!

The programme included Stravinsky's Mass,Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium, Jonathan Dove's Seek Him That Maketh The Seven Stars and Britten's Choral Dances from Gloriana, as well as some Spirituals and Mother of God, Here I stand, by John Tavener.

For some folk, this was a programme of challenging and not always lovable music but the choir performed admirably and the concert was enjoyed by all. The Brass Group and the solo trombonist were very well received and their part of the concert was a very good foil to the twentieth century music sung by the choir.

April 2018 - Javea/Xabia

the choir visited Spain and performed at the Fishermen's Church in Javea/Xabia and, with the Montgo chorale, at Pedreguer church. Here are some happy "recuerdos" - memories!
